The dmedia Numen will suspend the salaries of three of its players over their alleged involvement in a nightclub brawl early on Sunday morning, the Super Basketball League team said yesterday.
The players will also be barred from team training sessions, the Numen management said.
Wu Chun-hsiung (吳俊雄), Chou Tzi-hua (周資華) and Wang Chuan-chien (王傳鑑) faced questions from police later on Sunday for allegedly having incited people to attack other patrons at a nightclub in Taipei.
Dmedia coach Wu Chien-kuo (吳建國) said at a media conference yesterday the case was now in the hands of the legal system and that it would be inappropriate for the team to comment further.
"However, their conduct has tarnished the team's image," he said. "The team's regulations stipulate that their salaries should be suspended with immediate effect."
He said that while Chou has played in two games this season, he had only been on the basketball court for a total of about five minutes.
Wu Chien-kuo said the players would be fired if they are found to have broken the law. Based on the terms of their contracts, the team would be entitled to ask them to return all wages paid since August last year and file an additional civil suit for compensation against the three players.
Dmedia on Monday issued a statement on its Web site apologizing for setting a bad example for its fans and the nation's teenagers.

A soccer jersey carrying a national map including disputed Western Sahara has become a hot commodity in Morocco after a diplomatic dispute with Algeria. Retailers said RS Berkane jerseys have been flying off the shelves after a Confederation of African Football (CAF) Cup match against Algerian club USM Alger was canceled last month over the jerseys. “We are overwhelmed by the influx of messages and requests,” said Brahim Rabii, representative of the official RS Berkane jersey distributor. Algeria broke off diplomatic relations with Morocco in 2021, partly over the issue of Western Sahara. The former Spanish colony is largely controlled by Morocco, but claimed
