Lu Yen-hsun (盧彥勳), one of eight Taiwanese players that have participated in the ATP Taiwan Challenge 2007, reached today's tournament final after defeating the Philippines' top-ranked player Cecil Mamiit, 6-1, 6-4 in the semi-finals yesterday.
Lu, the tournament's second seed, will play top seed Dudi Sela of Israel, who defeated unseeded Farrukh Dustov from Uzbekistan, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the semi-finals.
On his way to the finals, Lu also defeated unseeded Rainer Schuettler from Germany, the Australian Open runner up in 2003, but who has now slipped to an ATP ranking of 136.
The men's professional tennis tournament is sanctioned by the ATP for world-ranked players. It opened at the Yangming Tennis Center in Kaohsiung on Nov. 10 with a purse of US$50,000. Forty-six players from 20 countries have participated in the nine-day tournament.
