    MERCEDES-BENZ

    AFP, HO CHI MINH CITY
    Friday, Nov 16, 2007, Page 24

Promising Thai golfer Nakul Vichitryuthasastr and Mars Pucay from the Philippines took a share of the halfway lead in the Mercedes-Benz Championship in Vietnam yesterday.

Nakul carded a one-under 71, the joint best round of the day, while Pucay fired a 72 to move to three-under 141.

Vietnamese amateur Hyunh Van Son, who started the day with a joint share of the lead, stuttered to a 74 to be two off the pace at the Vietnam Golf and Country Club.

Nakul has been a regular feature on the leader boards on this year's ASEAN Golf Tour, which was launched in September to provide more playing opportunities for players like the young Thai.

He was coasting along before bogeys on 13 and 14, and another dropped shot on 16, spoiled his card.

Philippine amateur Jay Bayron is three off the lead after shooting a 75 along with Thailand's Pol Kemmarat.
