Fast bowler Zaheer Khan took seven wickets to back up some prolific batting as India crushed Bangladesh by an innings and 239 runs with two days to spare in the second and final Test match yesterday.
Man of the match Khan took five wickets for 34 runs from Bangladesh's first innings and 2-54 off its second after India's four top batsmen smashed confident centuries on the second day on Saturday to build a daunting first innings total of 610-for-three declared.
India's win completed a 2-0 sweep of the Test series adding to a 2-0 win the in the three-match limited overs earlier this month. The wins will serve as vindication for a team which was bundled out of the first round of this year's World Cup, thanks largely to an upset loss to Bangladesh.
Despite spirited half centuries by Mohammad Ashraful (67) and Mashrafee Bin Mortaza (70), Bangladesh was dismissed for 253 in its second innings after being forced to follow on.
