With Tien Lei, the league's most valuable player over the past two seasons in their in the Dacin Tigers' lineup and defensive specialist Chang Chih-fong always providing blanket-like coverage, the Tigers can give any team more than they bargain for on any given night.
The only problem that they face is the soft style of defense that the rest of the club plays.
The big cats won only six games last season in which they allowed 75 points or less.

They cannot simply rely on the offense to out-score the other teams by simply bombarding them with three-pointers (Tien led the league with 88 "threes" last season) if they want to become title contenders.
Videoland Hunters
An offseason coaching change may be the biggest factor in the Hunters' campaign this season as longtime assistant Chou Hai-rong takes the helm from his predecessor Chong Chih-mong.
While the Hunters lack the speed that Dacin, Yulon and the Bank of Taiwan have, the combined years of experience of their frontcourt trio, Lai Guo-hong, Lee Chi-yi and Lee Hsin-hua should be able to carry the Hunters into the postseason, as long as the backcourt (point guard Chen Hui and shooting guard Yang Tseh-yi) can keep the tempo of the game under control.
Newcomer Hong Chi-chao could bring the consistent perimeter game that the Hunters missed last season as the former Dinos outside threat looks to contribute more offensively with his new club.
ETTV Antelopes
The loss of All-Star center Wu Dai-hao to a US college and big man Shang Wei-fang's joining Taiwan Beer leave the with only two returning starters from last season.
The addition of former Yulon great Chen "Airman" Hsin-an would have given the Antelopes a big boost in the frontcourt to complement premier shooter Yang Yu-ming and veteran point man Chou Hung-san.
Chen's controversial contract signing, however, and his subsequent holdout for the entire season will make coach Lee Yun-shiang's job of placing a competitive squad on the court next to impossible.
Power forward Wu Jung-hsiung must find a way to fill in the big shoes of Wu Dai-hao and adjust to the playing habits of fellow frontcourt mates Liao "the refrigerator" Wei-cheng and Hsin Jin-chang.
Bank of Taiwan
The outlook for this squad may not be very bright given an ironically limited means of financial support that landed them no big-name players for the second straight season.
Team icon Yang Jing-ming managed to remain with his club despite rumors of a potential departure throughout the offseason.
Rebounding machine Chu Yong-hong's preseason injury (minor concussion) which lists him as day-to-day did the bankers no favor last week as they prepare to take on the Antelopes in the season opener last night in Taipei.
YMY
The former Sina Lions, which signed a pair of talented rookies in small forward Tso Tsong-kai and power forward Jien Jia-hong, will be mentored by veterans Luo "the Natural" Hsin-liang and Liu Yi-shiang.
YMY has nowhere to go but up following their 3-27 season.
Brazil has four teams, more than any other country, in the expanded Club World Cup that kicked off yesterday in the US, but for SE Palmeiras, the competition holds a special meaning: winning it would provide some redemption. Under coach Abel Ferreira since 2020, Palmeiras lifted two Copa Libertadores titles, plus Brazilian league, cup and state championships. Even before Ferreira, it boasted another South American crown and 11 league titles. The only major trophy missing is a world champions’ title. Other Brazilian clubs like Fluminense FC and Botafogo FR, also in the tournament, have never won it either, but the problem for Palmeiras
Badminton world No. 3 Anders Antonsen clinched his first Indonesia Open title yesterday after beating Taiwan’s Chou Tien-chen, while South Korea’s An Se-young won her second championship in Jakarta. The 28-year-old Dane sank world No. 7 Chou at the Indonesian capital’s Istora Senayan arena, winning 22-20, 21-14 in a 60-minute match to secure the prestigious Super 1000 event. Antonsen came out on top in a tightly contested first game before cruising to victory in the second. In a more closely fought women’s singles final, South Korean ace and world No. 1 An fought back from one game down to beat China’s
‘STILL’: In front of a packed New Jersey arena attended by Donald Trump and Mike Tyson, UFC 316 delivered high drama as Merab Dvalishvili retained his title Georgia’s Merab Dvalishvili scored a second-round submission win over Sean O’Malley to retain his bantamweight title at Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 316 on Saturday, with Kayla Harrison also winning by submission in the co-main event, tapping out Juliana Pena to claim the women’s bantamweight crown. In front of a packed crowd at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, which included US President Donald Trump and retired heavyweight great Mike Tyson, Dvalishvili, a 34-year-old from the country of Georgia, won the belt in a convincing, although not aesthetically pleasing, unanimous decision. Dvalishvili (19-4) sat on top of the cage and shouted
Manchester City on Monday completed the signing of left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolverhampton Wanderers for a reported £31 million (US$41.8 million). The 24-year-old Algeria international has signed a five-year contract and will be available for the FIFA Club World Cup, which begins later this week. Ait-Nouri is expected to be just one of a trio of new City faces for that tournament with deals close to completion for AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders and Olympique Lyonnais playmaker Rayan Cherki. After missing out on a major trophy in the recently completed season for the first time since 2016-2017, City are hoping
