Flyers keep streak alive

Fredrik Modin and Dan Boyle scored for Tampa Bay. Modin's goal ended a 160 minute, 10 second scoring drought for Tampa Bay, shut out its previous two games.

Pavol Demitra assisted on Tkachuk's goal to extend his point streak to nine games.

Red Wings 6, Islanders 0

In Detroit, Manny Legace stopped 30 shots for his fourth career shutout, and Steve Thomas had two goals and an assist to lift Detroit.

Brendan Shanahan, Chris Chelios, Kris Draper and Brett Hull scored the other Detroit goals. Pavel Datsyuk added two assists, and Draper had one.

Shanahan's goal was the 541st of his career, tying him with Hall of Famer Stan Mikita for 20th place on the NHL career list. Hull scored his 727th, moving him within four of Marcel Dionne in third place.

Sabres 4, Panthers 3

In Buffalo, New York, Daniel Briere scored two goals in the third period to help Buffalo beat Florida.

Curtis Brown and Taylor Pyatt also scored for Buffalo, which won its second straight game.

Stephen Weiss had two goals, and Juraj Kolnik also scored for the Panthers.

Mika Noronen started in the Buffalo net but was pulled after allowing two goals on just seven shots.

Valeri Bure, who assisted on Weiss' second goal, has points in 11 of his 14 games this season.

Stars 2, Devils 0

In Dallas, Bill Guerin scored a power-play goal in the second period, and Marty Turco stopped 21 shots to help Dallas snap New Jersey's club record-tying 13-game unbeaten streak.

The Devils, 10-0-3 in their previous 13 games, have had three other 13-game unbeaten streaks in franchise history.

Guerin's team-high 15th goal gave Dallas a 1-0 lead and extended his point streak to six games, one short of his career best. He has four goals and four assists during that span.

Turco earned his first shutout of the season and 13th career. Jason Arnott added an insurance goal on a rebound of Guerin's shot with 3:25 to play.

New Jersey hadn't lost on the road since March 13, 2003, going 9-0-6 since.

Avalanche 4, Oilers 1

In Edmonton, Alberta, Joe Sakic had a goal and two assists, and David Aebischer stopped 40 shots for Colorado.

Teemu Selanne, Dan Hinote and Martin Skoula also scored for the Avalanche, 5-2 in their last seven games and 8-2-0-1 in 11.

Marc-Andre Bergeron broke Aebischer's shutout bid in the third period for Edmonton, winless in four games (0-3-1) following a four-game winning streak.

Adam Oates, signed by Edmonton on Nov. 17, made his Oilers debut.
