American LeagueGame 4 of the AL championship series between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox was postponed because of rain on Sunday and rescheduled for yesterday night.
Game 5 was rescheduled for today, which would have been an off day for the teams.
New York leads the best-of-seven series 2-1. If a Game 6 is necessary, it will be played tomorrow, as scheduled, at Yankee Stadium.
The tarp never came off the infield on Sunday at Fenway Park in Boston.
"It's the right call. We walked the field. It's not playable," Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said.
Sandy Alderson, baseball's executive vice president of operations, said: "Given the magnitude of this game and the importance of this series, we felt it was best to reschedule."
