If you are a young man under tons of stress, not exercising, and have a naturally oily scalp, you need to be on the lookout for hair loss. Dermatologists are saying that since college-entrance exams recently ended, a number of high school students about to graduate have been coming in to see them because of their cranial crises. In recent years, the number of males around the age of 20 showing signs of baldness and seeking medical help has increased by 10 to 20 percent.
Dermatologist Lu Ching-yi says that the number of young men suffering from baldness has increased due to excessive stress, smoking, and abnormal diet and lifestyles. Some high school boys are even showing signs of hereditary androgenic alopecia, or male pattern baldness, earlier than usual due to the pressures of advancing in their studies, staying up late at night to study, as well as overall abnormal lifestyles.
Lu says that according to statistics, half of the people suffering from androgenic alopecia are males between 40 and 50 years old. But in recent years those figures have changed to include more and more young people, and although some of them are only in their 20s, they look like they are middle-aged due to shrinking hair follicles, receding hairlines, and thinning hair on the crown area. Some high school students who are seeking medical help appear to be in their 30s or older because of severe hair loss, receding hairlines, and thinning hair on the crown. Lu says that most of these young balding people are showing signs of severe androgenic alopecia earlier than usual due to the excessive stress they face taking school examinations and staying up late to study.

There is also a significant number of women suffering from baldness. In recent years, the ratio of males to females visiting dermatologists for hair loss issues is around 7 to 3. Stress-induced hair loss is the most common cause of hair loss in women. Pregnancy or being in an accident, for example, can cause hormonal imbalances and severe hair loss.
Hair loss has become an increasingly common problem. Aside from the everyday pressures faced in life and the extreme changes in temperatures in recent years due to climate change, which can cause the scalp to become overly sensitive, modern people are also not exercising enough and staying indoors too much, causing the scalp to produce more sebum than usual, which clogs hair follicles.
Many people mistakenly assume washing their hair every day causes increased hair loss, but Lu says this is wrong and that she washes her hair daily, adding that people who have naturally oily skin need to be sure to regularly wash their scalp more than others.
However, people need to be careful not to use their fingernails when washing their hair, and instead use the skin on the tips of their fingers so they do not do damage to the scalp. People who ride scooters or motorcycles should often change the cloth they put inside their helmet to keep the scalp clean.

South Korea’s famous kimchi is falling victim to climate change, with scientists, farmers and manufacturers saying the quality and quantity of the napa cabbage that is pickled to make the ubiquitous dish is suffering due to rising temperatures. Napa cabbage thrives in cooler climates, and is usually planted in mountainous regions where temperatures during the key growing summer season once rarely rose above 25 degrees Celsius. Studies show that warmer weather brought about by climate change is now threatening these crops, so much so that South Korea might not be able to grow napa cabbage one day due to the intensifying heat. “We
On blazing hot summer days, fresh ingredients and cool refreshments straight from a refrigerator feel like nothing short of a miracle. However, chilled foods didn’t begin with modern refrigerators. In fact, the origin of refrigeration precedes the invention of this now-indispensable appliance by centuries. Initially, the quest for refrigeration was motivated more by the desire to cool beverages than to preserve food. The ancient Greeks and Romans, for instance, used snow stored in insulated pits to chill wine. Around the fourth century BC, the Persians made a significant stride in refrigeration techniques when they devised the yakhchal. Fashioned from
