The Adventures of Kathleen the Great and Mark the Meek

Meet Kathleen the mouse and Mark the elephant. Kathleen is very brave and likes adventure, but Mark is very shy and scared of many things. But friends stay together, so Mark follows Kathleen wherever she goes. Sometimes they get into some very sticky situations.

"Are you ready? Do you have your bathing suit on? Let's go!" Kathleen yelled.

"I thought we were going to the beach next week," Mark answered, looking confused.

"We are! That's why you need to learn to swim today," Kathleen said as she pulled him out of the house.

Ten minutes later they were at the pool. Kathleen kicked off her shoes and jumped into the water. She swam a few strokes of freestyle, and then turned to face Mark, who was still standing by the side of the pool. "Come on, the water feels great!" she said.

Mark put one foot in the pool. "Brrr, that's cold," he said. Kathleen gave him an angry look, so he stepped in the shallow part of the pool.

"OK, that's great," Kathleen called. "Now walk out here to where it's deep. First, you need to learn how to float."

Mark walked out into the pool until his whole body was underwater, except his head.

"Look Kathleen!" he cried. "I'm floating!"

"Are your feet on the ground?" Kathleen asked with a knowing look.

Mark looked embarrassed.

"That's what I thought," Kathleen said. "OK, forget floating. Let's start with doggy paddling," she said, and she began doggy paddling around the pool. (Kayleen Hartman, staff writer)

「好，很好！現在走過來水位較深的地方。首先你得學會怎麼漂浮。」凱薩琳大喊著。

馬克走進水池，直到頭以下的身體都浸在水裡。

馬克大喊：「凱薩琳妳看！我會漂浮了。」

「你是不是雙腳還踏在地上？」凱薩琳似乎能看穿馬克似地問。

馬克則有點不好意思。
