Land Rover Taiwan is likely to set up its office in Taiwan by the end of this year, starting to sell cars of this luxury brand to local customers, according to Chinese-language newspaper reports.
The reports said Land Rover, one of three luxury import brands acquired by Ford in the recent years along with Volvo and Jaquar, will have a branch office in Chungli, Taoyuan County, functioning like Volvo Car Taiwan -- which began to sell Volvo-brand cars by its own earlier this year detour local agents.
Joseph Hsu (徐天派), operation and sales director for Volvo Car Taiwan, said the company has sold around 650 Volvo cars during the first half of the year, nearly unchanged from a year ago.
Volvo Car Taiwan yesterday launched its Chinese-language Web site through the cooperation with MSN, Microsoft's Internet portal. "Younger customers are more difficult to satisfy and through the Web site we want to provide them more extensive Volvo car information that we have on offer," Hsu said.
