Systex Corp (精業), Taiwan's largest financial-information provider, said sales this year will rise by about 2 percent from 2001 because of stronger demand for equipment that delivers information from the Internet.
"We've forecast sales this year will be NT$9.8 billion ($29.1 million) compared with NT$9.6 billion last year," said Norman Shen, chief financial officer of Systex. "Our forecast for this year is very conservative."
The company's two main sources of revenue are financial- information services and sales of computing equipment. Sales at the financial-information provider unit will be "stagnant," while computer servers will be the main contributor to revenue, Shen said.
Shares of Systex soared for a second trading day after the Economic Daily News said the company's sales this year will rise to more than NT$10 billion this year. The stock rose as much as 6.8 percent to NT$28.3 in early trading and recently traded for NT$27.60, a 4.2 percent increase.
