Military helicopters are to fly past the Presidential Office early tomorrow morning in preparation for Double Ten National Day celebrations, the organizing committee said, advising Taipei residents to not be alarmed.
From 6am to 6:30am tomorrow, two UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters are to fly from Taoyuan’s Longtan District (龍潭) and the Hsinchu Air Base to Taipei’s Zhongzheng District (中正), the organizing committee said today.
They are to fly over the Presidential Office Building to survey and practice the flight route ahead of National Day celebrations on Oct. 10, it said.

The exercises would be loud, but residents are advised not to worry and instead look up and wave to celebrate the troops, the committee said.
“We look forward to everyone’s enthusiastic encouragement and support as our aviation force demonstrates their strength and precision,” the Ministry of National Defense said.
If weather conditions affect the current schedule, the exercise is to be held on Friday.

The air force has also planned additional paramilitary exercises on Wednesday next week and military exercises on Friday next week for 6:50am to 7:15am, the committee said.
For this year’s National Day celebrations, the air force plans to mobilize a fleet including Black Hawks, Boeing CH-47 Chinooks, Advanced Jet Trainers and AIDC AT-3 advanced jet trainers, which are all to partake in training exercises to ensure the smooth running of celebrations, the committee said.

New measures aimed at making Taiwan more attractive to foreign professionals came into effect this month, the National Development Council said yesterday.
