The Taipei Dome and Tianmu Stadium are to host group-stage games for the international Premier12 baseball tournament in November, the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) announced on Wednesday.
Group B games are to be held at the two Taipei venues from Nov. 13 to 18, the organizer said in a news release.
Taiwan’s opening game against South Korea is to be held at 6:30pm on Nov. 13 at the Taipei Dome, as the Dominican Republic and Cuba face off in Tianmu at the same time.

All of Taiwan’s games are to be played in the Dome, including against the Dominican Republic on Nov. 14, Japan on Nov. 16, Australia on Nov. 17 and Cuba on Nov. 18.
The top two teams from each of the two groups are to go on to the Super Round, which is to be held in the Tokyo Dome from Nov. 21 to 23 ahead of the medal games on Nov. 24.
The Premier12, WBSC’s flagship event, is to be played between the top 12 countries in the WBSC/KONAMI Men’s World Rankings as of the end of last year.
Taiwan finished No. 5, behind Japan, Mexico, the US and South Korea.
Other participants in order are Venezuela, the Netherlands, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Australia and Puerto Rico.

At least three people died and more than a dozen were injured yesterday afternoon when a vehicle struck a group of pedestrians in New Taipei City’s Sansia District (三峽). The incident happened at about 4pm when a car rammed into pedestrians at an intersection near Bei Da Elementary School. Witnesses said the sedan, being driven at a high speed, ran a red light, knocking scooters out of the way and hitting students crossing the road before careening into a median near the intersection of Guocheng and Guoguang streets. The incident resulted in three deaths and 13 injuries, including the driver, a 78-year-old man
