Czech Senator Pavel Fischer and his wife arrived in Taipei on Tuesday for a three-day visit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
Fischer, who chairs the Czech Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security, is to meet with Premier Chen Chien-jen (陳建仁) and Legislative Speaker You Si-kun (游錫堃), as well as attend a banquet hosted by Minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Wu (吳釗燮), the ministry said in a news release.
The officials are to exchange views on Taiwan-Czech relations, regional security and other issues before Fischer departs on Thursday, it said.

Wu is to also award Fischer with the Friendship Medal of Diplomacy in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the development of Taiwan-Czech relations, it added.
Fischer is making his second trip to Taiwan after visiting in 2020 as part of a 90-member delegation led by Czech Senate President Milos Vystrcil.
He has also advocated for donating vaccines to Taiwan during the COVID-19 pandemic, supported many Taiwan-friendly resolutions in the Czech Senate and called for Taiwan’s participation in the WHO, the ministry said.
Relations between the countries have become closer in recent years, with visits by the speakers of both chambers of the Czech parliament and the signing of more than 30 memorandums of understanding, it said.
A direct flight between Taipei and Prague also launched in July, shortening the distance between the countries, it added.
