Visitors to this year’s Taichung International Flower Carpet Festival are to be welcomed by an 11-meter-tall kaleidoscope, the city’s Tourism Bureau said.
The annual flower festival runs from today to Dec. 6 with the theme “Kaleidoscope Fantasy.”
Combining the vitality of flowers with visual arts, visitors can see flowers transformed into 3D displays, a change from static flower shows of the past, the bureau said.

The city has invited horticulturists from the Netherlands, the world’s leading supplier of flowers, plants and trees, to participate in this year’s festival.
The festival is to serve as a prelude to the 2018 International Flower Exhibition that is scheduled to be held in Taichung, the bureau said.
Shuttle buses will operate during the festival from various locations and traffic restrictions are to be imposed to facilitate smooth transit during the event, it said.

The Central Epidemic Command Center yesterday said it would delay the lifting of the indoor mask mandate, citing public health considerations and ongoing discussions on how the policy should be implemented.
