The national campaign headquarters for Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presidential candidate Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) is to be unveiled today, while plans for an official opening on Oct. 18 are in the works, DPP members said.
The DPP has rented the first, second, 13th and 14th floors of the Huitai Building, near its headquarters on Beiping E Road in Taipei.
Office staff, including campaign director-general Su Jia-chyuan (蘇嘉全), executive director Lin Hsi-yao (林錫耀) and candidate office director Lin Mei-chu (林美珠) have already moved in, along with the financial committee and social activism organization division to facilitate campaign efforts, the party said.
The 13th and 14th floor are to accommodate the creative media activity division, along with the office of the DPP’s vice presidential candidate, the party added.
The first floor of Tsai’s national campaign headquarters is for the main office space, which has been decorated with a large photograph of Tsai, a nine-screen TV wall and a cross-section of the Central Mountain range built out of piggy banks, it said.
Tsai has used piggy banks to raise funds from supporters for the current campaign as well as her run for the 2012 presidential election.
Major personnel appointments for Tsai’s campaign headquarters have largely been confirmed, with Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chu (陳菊) to be campaign manager, former Council for Economic Planning and Development vice chairman Chang Ching-sen (張景森) as executive director for the policy research group, former National Security Council member Lin Chin-chang (林錦昌) to be head of the publicity division, Hung Yao-fu (洪耀福) to head the organization group and DPP Legislator Chen Chi-mai (陳其邁) heading public opinion monitoring.

Under the new act, the day before Lunar New Year’s Eve is also a national holiday, and Labor Day would no longer be limited
