In addition to magazines and blog posts, Taiwanese now have a new source of beauty and fashion tips: a platform of locally produced YouTube video clips that was launched on Wednesday.
The “All About Beauty” channel on Google’s video-sharing Web site compiles clips of make-up and fashion tutorials, as well as information and advice uploaded by local beauty bloggers, cosmetologists and dermatologists.
The Chinese-language channel is operated by French cosmetics giant L’Oreal and aims to give Taiwanese access to beauty information that is well-managed, Google Taiwan general manager Stanley Chen (陳俊廷) said.
Like all YouTube channels, users can subscribe to All About Beauty and share their cosmetics and fashion ideas by uploading their own videos, Google Taiwan said.
As an added bonus, those who upload videos to the channel have the potential of earning money from targeted advertisements embedded in the clips, the company added said.
“We think that this channel can help the nation’s fashion industry enter a new era of sharing beauty tips and tricks more efficiently to a wider audience,” Chen said.
“It could also spur the discovery of Taiwan’s Michelle Phan,” Chen said, referring to a Vietnamese-American make-up demonstrator and entrepreneur who has become a YouTube celebrity.
Phan’s videos have more than 6.4 million subscribers and have racked up nearly 1 billion views. The success and popularity of her videos led her to team up with L’Oreal in August last year to launch her own make-up line.

The inauguration ceremony for Trump and US vice president-elect JD Vance is to be held inside the Capitol Rotunda, which has a capacity of about 2,000 people. A person familiar with the issue yesterday said although the outdoor inauguration ceremony has been relocated, Taiwan’s legislative delegation has decided to head off to Washington as scheduled. The delegation
TRANSPORT CONVENIENCE: The new ticket gates would accept a variety of mobile payment methods, and buses would be installed with QR code readers for ease of use New ticketing gates for the Taipei metro system are expected to begin service in October, allowing users to swipe with cellphones and select credit cards partnered with Taipei Rapid Transit Corp (TRTC), the company said on Tuesday. TRTC said its gates in use are experiencing difficulty due to their age, as they were first installed in 2007. Maintenance is increasingly expensive and challenging as the manufacturing of components is halted or becoming harder to find, the company said. Currently, the gates only accept EasyCard, iPass and electronic icash tickets, or one-time-use tickets purchased at kiosks, the company said. Since 2023, the company said it
