The government has designated a total of 114 days of national holidays for next year, including a six-day Lunar New Year holiday and five long three-day weekends, the Directorate General of Personnel Administration said yesterday.
The national holiday calendar was finalized four months earlier than in previous years, when a calendar would normally be determined in late September or in early October to make it more convenient for the public to make plans, the government agency said in a press release.
According to new regulations adopted in March, the agency is obligated to make public the national holiday calendar for next year by June.
Under the proposal, next year’s Lunar New Year holiday will run from Jan. 30 through Feb. 4, three days shorter than the nine-day holiday this year.
There will be five three-day long weekends next year — the 228 Memorial Day from Feb. 28 to March 2; Children’s Day and Tomb-Sweeping Day from April 4 to April 6; Dragon Boat Festival from May 31 to June 2; Moon Festival from Sept. 6 to Sept. 8; and Double Tenth Day from Oct. 10 to Oct. 12.
The calendar is available for download at www.dgpa.gov.tw.
