An accountant was yesterday detained, suspected of producing fake accounts for the Rebar Asia Pacific Group (力霸亞太企業集團), while the acting chairman of Asia Pacific Broadband Telecom (亞太固網), Wang Lin-tai (王令台), underwent another round of interviews by investigators.

Taipei Prosecutors' Office spokesman Lin Jinn-tsun (林錦村) said Shan and Hao were the two key figures in charge of Rebar Group's accounts and they are suspected of producing fake accounts ledgers for the conglomerate.

Lin said Wang Lin-tai would be sent to prosecutors for another round of questioning after the MJIB had completed the interview.
The official said that Shan and Hao's statements would implicate Wang Lin-tai.
Prosecutors said that six years ago Asia Pacific Broadband Telecom issued around NT$60 billion (US$1.83 billion) in bonds. Around NT$10.5 billion of this sum was paid to the government for telecommunications access and licensing, while around NT$20 billion was used for the company's own telecommunications infrastructure.
Prosecutors believe the remainder -- around NT$29.5 billion -- was embezzled.
