Kinmen tourist businesses and their counterparts in Xiamen, China have reached an agreement on a proposal to organize a meeting every three months to work out common strategies in an effort to establish a "Kinmen-Xiamen tourism circle." Kinmen tourism representatives, headed by Kinmen County Tourism Development Association chairman Yang Ying-hsiung (楊應雄) met with a visiting Chinese tourism delegation from Xiamen in Kinmen over the weekend. The Chinese delegation was made up of more than 30 Xiamen tourism officials and tour agency representatives. Yang suggested that the local governments of Xiamen and Kinmen further simplify the procedure for Chinese people to apply for permission to visit Kinmen as tourists. Citing statistics, Xiamen Deputy Mayor Zhan Cang-zhou (詹滄洲) said that since Dec. 7, 2004, when the two sides of the Taiwan Strait opened their doors for travel between Kinmen and Xiamen, more than 600 Chinese tour groups had visited Kinmen.
