Presidential Office Spokesman David Lee (李南陽) said that the Presidential Office would not post photographs of the third child of the president's only daughter Chen Hsing-yu (陳幸妤) and her husband Chao Chien-ming (趙建銘) on the Presidential Office Web site.
"But we appreciate the public's support and the blessings extended to the first family," he said.
The Presidential Office has previously made public pictures of the president's grandsons, Chao Yi-an (
Chen Hsing-yu gave birth to a healthy baby boy at National Taiwan University Hospital on Sunday afternoon.
She was accompanied by a bodyguard when she arrived at the hospital in the morning. Her husband has been detained since May 25 on suspicion of insider trading and other offenses.

Ku said that his visit lasted for 30 minutes and that Chao Chien-ming was calm when he broke the news to him. Chao Chien-ming did not ask to see pictures of his third son, Ku said.
The president and first lady Wu Shu-jen (吳淑珍) did not visit their daughter yesterday. Only Twu Shiing-jer (涂醒哲), former director-general of the Department of Health, was admitted to visit Chen Hsin-yu.
Twu, who was holding a gift basket before the visit, was very low key when approached by the media.
