The military high court said in its judgement that Chuang leaked military information to China.
The court said that Chuang's offense therefore warranted a heavy punishment.
The story broke in May, when the Ministry of National Defense accused Chuang, who worked in a unit within the ministry's electronic information department, of leaking important military information to China together with 16 other military officers and civilians.
The information included details on Chinese military exercises, but did not include more sensitive information on missile systems or codes, the ministry said.
The information on China's exercises would have been of interest to Beijing because it could reveal what Taiwan knew about its military capabilities, the military said.
Chuang was believed to have had no access to the department's most sensitive information because he had been employed there for only one year at a lower security level.
Investigators said they uncovered the ring after the coast guard discovered that a suspect arrested last September over credit-card forgery and weapons and drug-smuggling had also been involved in passing confidential information to China.

More than 200 investigators searched 20 locations and found dozens of classified documents as well as more than NT$100 million (US$3 million) in machinery used to produce fake cards, the Ministry of Justice said.
The defense ministry said it would boost security to "effectively track down and attack any illegal leaking of secrets, and block the infiltration of intelligence-gathering channels by Communist China."

Completing the NT$247.2 billion (US$7.69 billion) arms deal for 66 jets would make Taiwan the third nation in the world to receive factory-fresh advanced fighter jets of the same make and model, following Bahrain and Slovakia, the official said on condition of anonymity. F-16 Block 70/72 are newly manufactured F-16 jets built by Lockheed Martin to the standards of the F-16V upgrade package. Republic of China

A pro-Russia hacker group has launched a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack on the Taiwanese government in retaliation for President William Lai’s (賴清德) comments suggesting that China should have a territorial dispute with Russia, an information security company said today. The hacker group, NoName057, recently launched an HTTPs flood attack called “DDoSia” targeting Taiwanese government and financial units, Radware told the Liberty Times (sister paper of the Taipei Times). Local tax bureaus in New Taipei City, Keelung, Hsinchu and Taoyuan were mentioned by the hackers. Only the Hsinchu Local Tax Bureau site appeared to be down earlier in the day, but was back
