"The importance of internal party elections should not be overlooked, and it should be both the KMT and DPP's priority to regulate political contributions or lobbies in the elections," Ma said yesterday after meeting with Lin.
"Lin said that he couldn't agree with me more when I proposed this idea to him," Ma said.

Ma's remarks were an echo of campaign promises he made during the KMT-chairmanship election, when he recommended the proposal to his party's headquarters.
He also pledged to help push the enactment of a political party bill which would require all political parties to enforce the Election and Recall Law of Civil Servants in their internal elections.
During their meeting, Lin presented Ma with two books he has written on mercy, hope and love, and said he was visiting Ma mainly to congratulate him on his victory in the KMT chairmanship election. He expressed the hope that Ma can contribute to the nation in his position as KMT chairman.

Ma reiterated that he will not rule out the possibility of meeting Chen at the right time and with proper issues to discuss.
"But I don't think there is any issue so far that I need to discuss with the president," he said.

Taiwan-Japan Travel Passes are available for use on public transit networks in the two countries, Taoyuan Metro Corp said yesterday, adding that discounts of up to 7 percent are available. Starlux Airlines, Taiwan’s newest international carrier, has announced it would apply to join the Oneworld global airline alliance before the end of next year. In an investor conference on Monday, Starlux Airlines chief executive officer Glenn Chai (翟健華) said joining the alliance would help it access Taiwan. Chai said that if accepted, Starlux would work with other airlines in the alliance on flight schedules, passenger transits and frequent flyer programs. A new tropical storm formed late yesterday near Guam and is to approach closest to Taiwan on Thursday, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said. Tropical Storm Pulasan became the 14th named storm of the year at 9:25pm yesterday, the agency said. As of 8am today, it was near Guam traveling northwest at 21kph, it said.
