The Coast Guard Administration yesterday met with relevant officials to examine whether the administration's East Coast Patrol Office is guilty of any wrongdoing regarding a sightseeing trip to Green Island aboard coast guard vessels taken by a group that included Examination Yuan President Yao Chia-wen (姚嘉文) .

The group traveled on two boats on an hour-long trip.
Denying any misuse of government resources, Yao said that his wife's office paid for the entire trip except for the use of the coast guard patrol boats, which he said was part of a public relations program.
Yao also said that many local journalists and legislators have been invited by the coast guard to take such trips.
The administration on Saturday said the tour arranged by its eastern division was "routine," and in line with a public relations program aimed at helping people better understand patrolling operations.
Starlux Airlines, Taiwan’s newest international carrier, has announced it would apply to join the Oneworld global airline alliance before the end of next year. A new tropical storm formed late yesterday near Guam and is to approach closest to Taiwan on Thursday, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said.
