Chen was speaking at a Presidential Office luncheon to welcome several new appointees to the Human Rights Task Force and the Technological Advisors Group.
"I stated my vision of our human rights work over the next four years in my ... inauguration speech as ethnic diversity in a united nation. I expect basic human rights and the rights of minorities in society to be incorporated and guaranteed in the course of our work to reform the Constitution," he said.
Chen appointed Vice President Lu in 2000 to head committees on human rights and technological development. Other committee members included activists and professionals with expertise in those areas. The technology committee has been expanded to 40 members, and sub-committees on oceanic technology and cultural creativity have been introduced.
