After a meeting on handling the impending water shortage held by the Ministry of Economic Affairs yesterday, Yin said that stricter water conservation measures would not be imposed before April 10 because rainfall might accumulate after the arrival of two cold fronts by the end of the month.

"We don't think high-tech firms at Hsinchu Science-based Industrial Park need to worry about their water supply," Yin said.
Yin said water supplies to both residents and the industry in Hsinchu areas could be ensured until the end of June.
In the north, which still faces the challenge of a drought, water levels at the two major reservoirs, Shihmen Dam and Feitsui Reservoir, were 3m to 4m above levels that would trigger the second phase of water restrictions.
The first phase of water restriction measures -- to keep water pressure low between 10pm and 6am -- has been imposed in northern counties since March 6.
