The Kaohsiung City Police Department said that the police record showed that the stolen merchandise was worth only NT$300,000.
According to Yu, the robbery took place on Nov. 7, 2000. She was robbed by two scooter riders on Kaohsiung Shihchuan Second Rd. while she was walking with the jewelry. She reported to the local police station and later provided a certificate which proved the value of the robbed jewelry.
After that, she never received any further notification from the police until Nov. 14 this year. However, she never got the stolen jewelry back and discovered that the total value of the jewelry has been changed from NT$30 million to NT$300,000.
"I do not understand why it took them so long to identify the suspects since I told the police that the license plate of the scooter they rode on was KUL-048 when I reported to them," Yu said. "In addition, I cannot believe they would forge a document."

"We have punished those lazy cops and we are sorry for the two-year delay in this case. But I am pleased that we have arrested the suspects anyway," Yi said.
"We did not change the record or forge any documents. The estimated NT$300,000 came from an estimate which was made by another jeweler. However, it was our fault that we did not attach Yu's official certificate of the value of the jewelry when she submitted it to us," Wu said.
