Chang was responding to a recent statement by KMT Secretary-General Lin Fong-cheng (林豐正) that Chang should join the system if she wishes to vie for their support.
Chang responded by saying that it isn't the right time for her to take part in the arrangement because she is an independent without political affiliation.
A more appropriate time for her to do so, she said, would be when pan-blue integration reaches a more mature stage of development, Chang said.
Chang argued that, in light of the tendency among the electorate to vote for candidates rather than parties in a local elections, political affiliation is not an important element.
Under these circumstances, Chang said, her appeal to rise above partisanship is consistent with mainstream public opinion.
