The Fubon Guardians last night dominated the CTBC Brothers 8-2, while the Uni-President Lions earned their first win of the season and the Wei Chuan Dragons humbled the Rakuten Monkeys on the second day of the CPBL season.
First baseman Fan Kuo-chen got his team’s season opener off on the right foot, blasting a two-run homer in the first inning at Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium in front of a crowd of more than 15,000.
The Brothers tied the game in the following two innings, with clutch singles from left fielder Chan Tzu-hsien and center fielder Sung Cheng-jui.

However, those would be the Brothers only runs of the game, as the Guardians scored in each of the four following innings, racking up 17 hits over the game.
Fan scored twice, as did Luis Liberato of the Dominican Republic and second baseman Lin Yue-ku, while catcher Dai Pei-feng and third baseman Wang Nian-hao each had runs.
Starting pitcher Aaron Wilkerson gave up seven hits and two runs in his five innings, while the Brothers’ Nick Nelson, who joined in January after a season with Japan’s Hanshin Tigers gave up the same number of hits, but also Fan’s home run and four runs total.

The Brothers have now lost back-to-back games, after falling 3-2 to the Monkeys on Saturday.
In Tainan, the Lions bested the TSG Hawks 3-1 in front of 23,500 fans, including President William Lai.
Su Chih-chieh, Lin Pei-wei and Chiu Chih-cheng each scored for the Lions, while starting pitcher Jackson Stephens pitched six scoreless innings, securing the team’s first win of the season.
