Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday made it three wins in four Premier League matches as an own-goal from Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier handed the hosts a 1-0 victory.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side took the points in the second half at Molineux when Adama Traore’s shot hit the bar and bounced into the net off Meslier.
Leeds pushed hard for an equalizer, but Mateusz Klich hit a post and Patrick Bamford had a goal ruled out for offside.

Wolves moved above Leeds into 11th place after extending their recent upturn in form, while Leeds have lost three of their past four league games.
“Players like Adama, when they have the ball and start running, are really dangerous. It was a beautiful strike,” Nuno said. “It is a hard moment for their ’keeper.”
“We still have some issues to assess, but the approach that we have during these tough moments, always believing, always committing,” he said. “You can’t say anything about the attitude of the players. We chase the high standards we have and let’s keep on doing that.”

The tone for an entertaining encounter was set when Raphinha slipped in Klich and the midfielder’s low effort bounced off the near post.
Pascal Struijk’s follow-up was saved by Rui Patricio and Raphinha eventually fired wide.
Wolves responded and Meslier had to parry Nelson Semedo’s angled shot on goal.
Meslier needed to be alert to deny Semedo again just before the break.
Wolves forward Pedro Neto seized on Jack Harrison’s loose pass to fire over early in the second half.
Raphinha’s whipped delivery was met by Liam Cooper and his header was parried by Patricio, with Bamford’s follow up smuggled away.
That save proved crucial as Wolves instantly regrouped to snatch their 64th-minute winner.
Traore collected the ball on the left and shrugged off Luke Ayling as he surged towards the Leeds area.
The winger’s 25m drive rattled the underside of the bar and the ball bounced out, hit Meslier on the back and rolled across the line.
A leveler never came thanks to two smart stoppage-time saves from Patricio, who denied Helder Costa and turned away Raphinha’s header.

Former US secretary of state Mike Pompeo on Friday backed calls for the US to boycott the Winter Olympics in Beijing next year, saying that China’s “nasty” activity made it an inappropriate host. Pompeo, a vociferous critic of Beijing while he was former US president Donald Trump’s top diplomat, said that the previous administration had tried in its final months to persuade the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to move the Winter Games. “I hope that our athletes get a chance to participate in the Olympics,” Pompeo told radio host Hugh Hewitt. “They very much deserve that, but in the end, we cannot
‘CANNOT ARGUE’: Despite the referee allowing two controversial tries by Wales to stand, England coach Eddie Jones said that they were worthy winners Wales on Saturday surged clear in the closing stages to beat England 40-24 in Cardiff to clinch the Triple Crown and stay on course for a Six Nations Grand Slam. Defeat all but ended reigning champions England’s hopes of a successful title defense. England, in a match where French referee Pascal Gauzere controversially allowed two of Wales’ four tries to stand, battled back from 17-6 down to 24-24 with 18 minutes left. However, England’s indiscipline, a long-running problem for coach Eddie Jones’ men, allowed Wales replacement Callum Sheedy to kick three penalties before Cory Hill’s late try rounded off the victory. It was the
Saul “Canelo” Alvarez demolished Turkey’s Avni Yildirim in three rounds to retain his WBC and WBA super middleweight titles by knockout on Saturday. Mexico’s Alvarez dominated underdog Yildirim from the opening bell and sent the Turk crashing to the canvas with a crisp left-right combination in the third round at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium. The outclassed Yildirim then failed to emerge from his corner for the fourth round as Alvarez once again demonstrated why he is regarded as the best pound-for-pound fighter in boxing. “I wanted to have a great fight here, and I did what I had to do,” Alvarez said. “I
