PGA Tour rookie Austin Cook on Friday shot an eight-under-par 62 to take a one-stroke lead over Brian Gay in the second round of the RSM Classic.
The 26-year-old sank a six-foot putt at his final hole for his eighth birdie of the day to finish with a 14-under overall total at the Sea Island Golf Club in coastal Georgia.
“We’ve just been able to hit the ball really well,” he said. “The speed on the greens has been really good and getting up and down has been great.”

“I’ve been able to hit it pretty close to the hole, where it makes for pretty stress-free putts, but the couple of putts that I have had of length for par I’ve been able to roll them in,” he added.
Gay also coped well with the elements on Friday, mixing seven birdies with one bogey for a second-round 64 to sit one stroke back of Cook.
“There is a lot of trouble out, here especially with the wind blowing, but I haven’t had to make too many saves the first couple of days and I’ve putted well,” Gay said.
The course could play differently over the weekend if the wind changes directions and starts to blow in from the south, he added.
Three players — Taiwan’s Pan Cheng-tsung, Chris Kirk and Vaughn Taylor — are tied for third at nine-under.
Brandt Snedeker, playing in his first tournament since coming back from a sternum injury, shot a 67 that featured a 39-foot birdie putt on the par-four sixth hole. He ended the day tied for sixth with five other players at eight-under.
“There has been no pain at all. I’ve been shocked at how good my body has felt,” Snedeker said. “My game is in a really, really good place and my mind is in a really great place, because I’m probably the most excited guy about being out here on the weekend.”
“I’m really fresh and can’t wait to get after it,” he added.
A stunning Lamine Yamal strike on Thursday helped crown Barcelona La Liga champions with a 2-0 win over local rivals RCD Espanyol, with victory ensuring Real Madrid cannot catch them at the top of the table. Yamal’s effort and Fermin Lopez’s goal took Hansi Flick’s side seven points clear of Los Blancos with two matches remaining, to clinch Barcelona’s 28th title and complete a superb domestic treble. Only the UEFA Champions League title escaped an exciting young Barca side this season, as they won the league for the second time in six years, at Espanyol’s ground again just as in 2022-2023. Back then,

American Gauff is to face Italy’s Jasmine Paolini in today’s title match after pulling through 7-6 (7/3), 4-6, 7-6 (7/4) in a match that lasted over three-and-a-half hours. Ruud was supposed to be Sinner’s toughest test in Rome since he came back from his three-month doping ban, as the Norwegian came into the match in hot form on clay after winning in

Muncy and Kim Hye-seong each had three hits for Los Angeles. Dodgers right-hander Matt Sauer led off a bullpen game by allowing two runs in four innings. Left-hander Justin Wrobleski (1-1) finished with four scoreless innings after he
Taiwanese-American right fielder Corbin Carroll on Tuesday hit his third home run in two days to tie for the MLB lead with 14 homers. Carroll on Monday hit two homers for the Arizona Diamondbacks in their 2-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants to put him with in one of the hit leaders. Although the Giants got their revenge on Tuesday night, beating Arizona 10-6, Carroll hit a solo home run in the seventh inning to tie him with the Philadelphia Phillies’ Kyle Schwarber and the New York Yankees’ Aaron Judge for the most homers so far this year.
