Coe ‘missed’ opportunities
The head of an investigation that found high-level corruption in international athletics has accused International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) president Sebastian Coe of missing opportunities to push reform “a long time ago” when he was vice-president. Dick Pound authored a World Anti-Doping Agency independent commission report that exposed a state-sponsored culture of doping in Russia and shook the athletics world. The second part of the report, due on Thursday, is expected to focus on the IAAF.

Stalman admits to doping
Former Dutch discus thrower Ria Stalman, who won Olympic gold 32 years ago, has admitted doping in the latter stages of her career. Stalman said in an interview with Dutch broadcaster NOS released on Friday that she used anabolic steroids in the run-up to the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

NFL in live-streaming talks
The NFL is planning to live-stream all three games scheduled to be played in London next season, and Apple Inc and Alphabet Inc subsidiary Google are among the technology companies in talks to buy the rights to conduct the streams, two sources familiar with the situation said. Last year, the NFL partnered with Yahoo Inc to live-stream a London game, the first time a technology company has streamed a game for free to viewers. Live-streaming is becoming increasingly popular as more consumers cancel their cable subscriptions, a practice known as cord-cutting. Winning a partnership with the NFL to live-stream one or all three games would be a big victory for a technology company.

Correa guilty of breach
A former scouting director for the St Louis Cardinals pleaded guilty on Friday to criminal charges over a breach of the computer network of the rival Houston Astros, prosecutors said. Chris Correa, 35, of St Louis, was fired by the Cardinals last year after his arrest. He pleaded guilty to five counts of unauthorized access of a protected computer. Each count carries a maximum possible sentence of five years in prison and a US$25,000 fine.

Jamie Heaslip injures head
Ireland No. 8 Jamie Heaslip is a doubt for this year’s Six Nations Championship after suffering a head injury in Leinster’s Pro12 game against the Ospreys, the BBC reported on Friday. The 32-year-old was forced off after six minutes of the match and failed to reappear following an assessment. Ireland start the defense of their Six Nations title against Wales in Dublin on Feb. 7. Heaslip, who has played for his country 80 times, is among the favorites to be appointed Ireland captain following the international retirement last year of lock Paul O’Connell.

Quarterback Andy Dalton, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, was ruled out by the Cincinnati Bengals for yesterday’s wild card game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the team said on Friday.
