World No. 107 Hsieh saw off the 631st-ranked Thai in 1 hour, 26 minutes, saving four of six break points and converting four of seven.
Hsieh, who won 75 of the 138 points contested, is likely to next face a tougher test against Chinese second seed Zheng Saisai.
The world No. 70 was due to play fellow Chinese Lu Jia-jing in the late match last night.
