The National Sport Training Center finally broke into the win column with a 7-6 victory over Taitung’s Chii Lih Coral at the Douliou County Baseball Stadium yesterday afternoon to improve to 1-1-1 for the year.
Ho Yu-teh’s clutch single with the bases loaded and his team down by a run scored the go-ahead runs in the top of the ninth, and National Sport Training held off Chii Lih Coral in a scoreless bottom half to pick up win No. 1.
Hired guns Dionys Cesar and Edgard Clemente were instrumental in helping National Sport Training as both connected on extra-base hits on the day to lead the attack for skipper Wang Guan-hui.
“[Cesar and Clemente] are obviously more experienced and more explosive compared with our local players, so we can all learn a lot from them,” Wang said after the game.
