Houston Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin said on Monday that he now returns to Taiwan every summer and is most looking forward this year to a visit to one of the nation’s night markets.
During an interview in the final part of the Beyond Linsanity series on CSN Houston, Taiwanese anchor Howard Chen noted Lin’s Taiwanese background and his frequent visits back to the nation to see relatives, and he asked Lin what his favorite aspect of Taiwan was.
Lin said he loved Taiwan’s food most, especially its night markets, but said that he did not have a chance to make it to a night market last year because of his busy schedule.
He said he would definitely manage to visit one during his trip to Taiwan this summer.
When asked about his Chinese ability, Lin said he could speak some Chinese, but because he did not have much of a chance to use the language during the basketball season, he would continue to learn it by communicating with friends overseas.
Although Lin’s performance with the Rockets in the 2012-2013 season never reached Linsanity heights and was underwhelming at times, he had respectable numbers during his first regular season with the team and remained extremely popular in Taiwan.
He is the first NBA player of Taiwanese descent.
