Patrick Marleau scored once and assisted on San Jose’s other two second-period goals as the Sharks beat the Los Angeles Kings 4-2 in the NHL on Monday.
Joe Thornton started the outburst in the second period and Dan Boyle capped it by scoring his first of the season with San Jose on a two-man advantage. Logan Couture added a third-period goal.
Jack Johnson had scored on a two-man advantage to give the Kings a 1-0 lead, but Los Angeles lost their fifth straight game. Anze Kopitar also scored a power-play goal for the visitors.

This was the first meeting of the season between the two California rivals, who played a tense first-round playoff series last season won by San Jose in six games, including three overtime wins for the Sharks.

Krejci had a goal and two assists in the game, giving him back-to-back three-point games after going scoreless in his previous six.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has overturned French Olympic fencer Ysaora Thibus’ four-year suspension for doping, ruling that her positive test for a banned substance was caused by kissing her then-boyfriend, American fencer Race Imboden.
