The New York Yankees matched a season high seven straight wins by beating the Toronto Blue Jays 7-3 in the American League on Friday.
Curtis Granderson drove in three runs with a pair of doubles, while Brett Gardner hit a run-scoring triple and scored three times.
Blue Jays starter Brandon Morrow (10-7) lasted only three innings, ending his five-game winning streak. He allowed five earned runs and issued three walks in that time.
Yankees reliever Kerry Wood (3-4) came on in the seventh and retired all five batters he faced to get the win.

In Kansas City, Will Rhymes hit a two-run triple in a four-run 11th inning to lift Detroit over Kansas City.
Rhymes’ triple off Jesse Chavez (2-3) scored Alex Avila, who had singled, and Casper Wells, who reached on an error.
After Johnny Damon walked, Ryan Raburn singled to score Rhymes.
Austin Jackson’s suicide squeeze bunt scored Damon with the final run.
Tigers reliever Ryan Perry (3-5) picked up the victory with two perfect innings.

The St Louis Cardinals ended a five-match losing skid with a 3-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Friday, maintaining a pulse in the National League wild-card race.
Rookie pitcher Jaime Garcia (13-6) beat NL Central leader Cincinnati for the fourth time this season.
A homer in the third ended Garcia’s run of 22-and-two-third innings without allowing an earned run. He lasted six-and-two-third innings, while also getting two hits against opposing pitcher Bronson Arroyo (14-9).
The Cardinals scored in consecutive innings for the first time in seven games, getting two in the first and one in the second.
St Louis are 11-5 against the Reds this season, but only 32-29 overall against the Central, explaining how its is seven games below Cincinnati. The Cardinals are five-and-a-half games off wild-card holder Philadelphia.
Ryan Franklin worked the ninth for his 23rd save.

In Los Angeles, Chad Billingsley hit a go-ahead two-run single in the fourth inning and limited San Francisco to two hits over eight innings, guiding Los Angeles to victory.
Billingsley (11-8) allowed two unearned runs and struck out seven.
Billingsley singled off Barry Zito (8-11) in the fourth, putting the Dodgers ahead 4-2. Zito gave up four runs in four innings and lost his fifth consecutive start. He is 0-7 his past 10 outings and hasn’t gotten past the fourth inning in four starts.
Pirates 8, Nationals 5
In Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Ryan Doumit had three hits, including a home run, and two RBIs to help Pittsburgh defeat Washington.
Pittsburgh’s Garrett Jones drove in three runs to help inflict the Nationals’ third straight loss.
Pirates starter Zach Duke (7-12) pitched five innings for the win and left after failing to retire any of the four batters he faced in the sixth as Washington scored four runs to close to 8-5. He allowed five hits and had five strikeouts.
Marlins 6, Braves 1
In Miami, Florida, Atlanta’s lead in the NL East was sliced to one game after losing to Florida.
Logan Morrison hit two RBI triples, after having hit only one in his first 126 at-bats this season. Both came off Atlanta starter Kenshin Kawakami (1-10), who gave up five runs and four walks in three innings. Florida starter Andrew Miller (1-0) worked five innings for his first win in more than a year.
