Pre-season games in Beijing, London, Milan, Paris, Barcelona, Guangzhou and Mexico City highlight an NBA exhibition slate for October confirmed on Tuesday by the league.
The NBA announced last week that it would play regular-season games in Europe for the first time when Toronto and New Jersey meet on March 4 and March 5 in London, which had hosted several prior pre-season games.
NBA’s pre-season play tips off on Oct. 3 in Italy when the New York Knicks visit Milan to face Armani Jeans Milano, the former club of Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni and Knicks standout forward Danillo Gallinari.
The same day, the New Jersey Nets play host to Maccabi Haifa.
Chinese star center Yao Ming and the Houston Rockets will face the Nets on Oct. 13 at Beijing’s Wukesong Arena, site of the 2008 Olympic basketball games, and on Oct. 16 at Guangzhou.
A fourth consecutive year of pre-season games in London will feature the reigning NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers, led by Kobe Bryant and Spain’s Pau Gasol, facing Minnesota at O2 Arena on Oct. 4.
