Fu Jen Catholic University rallied from 21 down to top Mingdao University 73-71 in Elite Eight play when the annual University Basketball Association (UBA) tournament resumed at National Taiwan Normal University on Monday.
The victory virtually sealed a final-four berth for Fu Jen Catholic, who improved to 3-2 with a pair of relatively easy games remaining on their schedule in the seven-game, round-robin competition.
Trailing by 17 at the start of the second half, Fu Jen looked to Chou Tzu-hua (Taiwan Beer) to spark what ended up being the second-biggest comeback win in UBA history as the backcourt standout led the way with 17 points in the second half. He totaled 18 for the game, behind teammate Huang Chen’s team-high 23.

Chinese Culture University had little trouble defeating Hsing Wu College to remain unbeaten at 5-0.
The favorites were not hampered by the absence of two of their starters, Wu Jien-long and Lu Cheng-rue, who played in the Super Basketball League over the weekend for Pure Youth Construction and the Yulon Luxgens respectively.
Hsing Wu managed to lead by as many as eight for a good part of the first half against a lax Chinese Culture defense. It took a full-court press in the second half for Chinese Culture to turn the tide.
