The latest tournament in the domestic cricket season gets underway this weekend in Taichung with a blast from the past.
The Taipei Cricket Association (TCA), formed 15 years ago and the oldest team in Taiwan, will make a rare appearance. The Taiwan Southerners Cricket Club (TSCC) will also be there, celebrating their 10th anniversary.
The tournament will take place in Taichung at the “The Cauldron,” otherwise known as the Wansho baseball ground (萬壽棒球場) at the corner of Ta Duen Road (大墩路) and Shang San S Road (向上南路) tomorrow and Sunday.
Four teams will battle it out in a 15-over per side format round-robin group stage, with the top two vying for the title in the 16-over decider on Sunday afternoon.
The action gets underway at 9am tomorrow when Formosa Cricket Club (FCC) take on the Taiwan Indian Cricket Club (ICC). Next up, at 11.15am, TCA play TSCC.
After lunch Formosa do battle with TCA before tomorrow’s play wraps up at 4pm when ICC take on the Southerners.
Sunday’s play will again begin at 9am with an all-Indian showdown when TCA play ICC, before Formosa face TSCC in the final round-robin game.
The top two teams will then contest the final beginning at 2pm.
Inter on Sunday were given a letoff when they snatched a late 1-1 derby draw with AC Milan, while league leaders SSC Napoli were held by a late goal at AS Roma. Reigning champions Inter remain three points behind Napoli, who looked to be heading five clear as they led in Rome until Angelino volleyed in a stunning leveler in the first minute of stoppage-time. Angelino’s strike gave even more significance to Stefan de Vrij’s last-gasp equalizer at the San Siro. The defender forced home Nicola Zalewski’s knockdown just as it looked like Tijjani Reijnders’ opener would be enough for Milan. “I can

Bologna won 1-0 against last year’s runners-up, Atalanta BC, and are to play either holders Juventus or Empoli in the final four. Juventus are to host Empoli in their quarter-final on Feb. 26. The last time Bologna reached the semi-finals was in 1999, when they lost 4-2 to ACF Fiorentina. There were chances for both sides in a high-tempo match in Bergamo, but it was Bologna who broke the deadlock 10 minutes from
