Jay Pandolfo scored three goals to lead New Jersey to a 6-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday night, giving the Devils their first victory at the Prudential Center.
John Madden scored a goal and assisted on all three of Pandolfo's goals. Aaron Asham and Zach Parise also scored for the Devils and Martin Brodeur, playing in his 900th game, made 21 saves as New Jersey halted a four-game losing streak.
Vincent Lecavalier scored for the Lightning, who have dropped all five road games.
Madden and Pandolfo scored in a span of 1:48 in the second period to give the Devils a 2-0 lead. Madden opened the scoring at 4:32, converting a centering feed from Dainius Zubrus.
Pandolfo and Madden outhustled the Lightning defense to create a two-on-none break with Madden sliding the puck past the helpless Johan Holmqvist.
In the third, Asham deflected home Patrik Elias' shot from the right boards at 7:14, Pandolfo got his second goal 11 minutes in and Parise added a power-play goal with 6:36 remaining. Pandolfo closed out the scoring with 1:20 left for his first NHL hat-trick.
Panthers 4, Hurricanes 2
At Sunrise, Florida, Richard Zednik scored the go-ahead goal and Florida scored four times in the final period to beat Carolina for the first time in eight tries.
Trailing 1-0 coming into the final period, the Panthers scored three goals in a 5:12 stretch. It started when Florida tied the score at 2 with 5:49 remaining on Jay Bouwmeester's first goal of the season.
Zednik's goal came during a 5-on-3 power play with 2:19 left and gave Florida a 3-2 lead.
Nathan Horton added a power-play goal at 19:23.
Olli Jokinen also scored earlier in the third and had two assists for the Panthers.
Blackhawks 5, Stars 4
At Dallas, Jason Williams scored his second goal with 20.4 seconds left and Chicago snapped a nine-game losing streak in Dallas.
James Wisniewski fired a long pass to Williams, who fired a wrist shot from the right circle past goalie Mike Smith to give the Blackhawks their first win in Dallas since 2001. Williams tied the game 2:42 earlier.
Sergei Zubov's second goal of the third period gave the Stars, who trailed 3-1 after two periods, a 4-3 lead with 9:43 left.
Philippe Boucher's first goal of the season, 40 seconds into the third period, cut the deficit to 3-2. Dallas evened things on Niklas Hagman's third short-handed goal of the season.
Mike Ribeiro and Boucher each had a goal and an assist for the Stars.
Blue Jackets 4, Kings 1
At Los Angeles, Jason Chimera scored two goals, Pascal Leclaire made 33 saves and Columbus beat Los Angeles for their fourth-straight victory.
Gilbert Brule scored his first goal of the season.
