Mike Lowell homered to start a Red Sox comeback and also flattened two Yankees in a pair of basepath collisions on Saturday as Boston beat New York 11-6.
Red Sox first baseman Doug Mientkiewicz was taken from the field on a cart after banging his head on Lowell's hip while trying to one-hop a bad throw from shortstop Derek Jeter.
The Red Sox loaded the bases with nobody out in the seventh against Scott Proctor (0-3) before Lowell hit a grounder to second. Robinson Cano flipped to second for the force, but Jeter spun around and threw a ball that Mientkiewicz tried to backhand on the outfield side of the bag.

Mientkiewicz remained on the ground for several minutes while the Yankees' medical staff attended to him. Mientkiewicz was helped into a golf cart and taken to Massachusetts General Hospital for precautionary tests.

In Toronto, Aaron Hill hit a tiebreaking double in the seventh inning and Alex Rios added a three-run homer in the eighth to pace Toronto.

At St. Petersburg, Florida, Emil Brown hit a three-run homer, Odalis Perez won for the first time since late April and Kansas City beat Tampa Bay for its eighth win in its last 10 road games.
Brown hit his second homer of the season during a four-run fourth that put the Royals ahead 8-1.
Perez (3-5) gave up four runs and eight hits in five-plus innings. He had been winless in six starts -- including three losses -- since beating Minnesota on April 25.
Tigers 9, Indians 5
At Cleveland, Ivan Rodriguez and Magglio Ordonez had four hits each and Detroit beat Cleveland for the first time in six meetings this season.
Ordonez hit a two-run homer in the third in his second four-hit game of the year. Rodriguez's fifth-inning double broke a 4-4 tie. He added a two-run single in a three-run sixth that featured two Cleveland errors.
Chad Durbin (5-1) allowed five runs in five innings. The right-hander allowed eight hits, walked three and struck out one.
Athletics 1, Twins 0
At Oakland, California, Joe Blanton pitched a career-best three-hitter, Shannon Stewart broke a scoreless tie with a double play groundout in the sixth and Oakland snapped Minnesota's season-best five-game winning streak.
Blanton (5-3) ended a three-start winless stretch dating to May 11 against Cleveland. He struck out six and didn't walk a batter in his fifth career complete game and second shutout. Blanton retired 19 of his last 20 batters.
Carlos Silva (3-6) allowed five hits and one run, struck out two and walked one in eight innings.
Angels 7, Orioles 4
At Anaheim, California, Mike Napoli hit a two-run homer, Joe Saunders pitched well in an emergency start and Los Angeles won for the seventh time in nine games.
Saunders (3-0) allowed two runs and four hits in six innings, striking out none and walking three.
Steve Trachsel (4-4) threw 67 pitches in three innings and allowed five runs, five hits and four walks.
Mariners 5, Rangers 4
At Seattle, Jose Guillen started a three-run rally with a solo homer and Miguel Batista won his third straight decision for Seattle.
Ichiro Suzuki went 0-for-4 for the Mariners and never got the ball out of the infield, ending his club-record 25-game hitting streak.
Batista (6-4) carried a shutout and a 5-0 lead into the seventh. He held the Rangers to just five hits and struck out five.
Yunel Escobar doubled in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning and Andruw Jones led off the ninth with a homer on Saturday to lead the Atlanta Braves over Chicago 5-3, the Cubs' sixth straight loss.
Cubs manager Lou Piniella was ejected for arguing a call at third base in the eighth inning one day after the Cubs' Carlos Zambrano and Michael Barrett fought.
Mets 7, Diamondbacks 1
In New York, Carlos Delgado touched off a rally with his 415th home run and fifth in the past seven games as New York ended Arizona's eight-game winning streak.
Ruben Gotay, one of the backups replacing Mets regulars, had three hits including a three-run homer that broke the game open in the seventh.
Delgado led off the fourth inning with his shot against Livan Hernandez (5-3) and before the inning was over the Mets had two more runs supplied by reserve players.
Astros 8, Cardinals 3
In Houston, Carlos Lee hit a homer and had three RBIs and rookie Hunter Pence drove in two runs to lead Houston.
Adam Everett and Luke Scott also homered to help the Astros to their second win in 13 games.
Rookie Chris Sampson (5-5) pitched eight innings for the win in his longest outing of the season. He allowed six hits and three runs with one walk.
Phillies 5, Giants 2
In Philadelphia, the Phillies' Cole Hamels pitched his second complete game to become the NL's first eight-game winner and Philadelphia ended a losing skid.
Relying on a sharp fastball and his trademark change-up, Hamels (8-2) allowed two runs and five hits, striking out five without a walk.
Padres 11, Nationals 3
In Washington, Justin Germano won his fourth consecutive start, Rob Bowen drove in a career-high four runs and San Diego cruised after scoring six runs in the first inning.
Germano (4-0) is unbeaten in five starts since being called up from the minor leagues to replace the injured Clay Hensley in the Padres' rotation. Germano will stay in the rotation. Hensley, who was out with a strained right groin, was activated from the 15-day disabled list on Friday and optioned to Portland.
Germano allowed three runs and six hits over six innings to help San Diego win for the sixth time in eight games.
Marlins 5, Brewers 2
In Milwaukee, Josh Willingham and Miguel Cabrera hit two-run homers for Florida.
Miguel Cabrera went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in the sixth for the Marlins, who lost the first two games of this series.
Tied at 2-2 in the eighth, Hanley Ramirez singled to drive in Dan Uggla from second base. After Cabrera popped up to the catcher, Willingham hit his eighth homer of the season into the left-field seats off reliever Jose Capellan (0-1).

In Pittsburgh, Ian Snell limited the Dodgers to one run over eight innings and Pittsburgh overcame another bad night of baserunning.
Three Pirates runners were thrown out at home plate -- two in a span of two batters -- and Pittsburgh couldn't score a runner from second base on a double for the second game in a row.

In Denver, Jeff Francis allowed five hits over seven innings and Todd Helton hit a two-run homer to help Colorado end a three-game losing streak.
Francis (5-4) struck out six and walked one in winning his third straight start.
