Eric Boulton set up goals by Bobby Holik and Keith Tkachuk, and the Atlanta Thrashers reclaimed first place in the NHL Southeast Division by beating the Washington Capitals 4-2 on Monday.
Slava Kozlov and Ilya Kovalchuk also scored for the Thrashers, who moved two points ahead of Tampa Bay in the divisional race.

Alex Ovechkin scored two goals for the Capitals, giving him seven goals and six assists in seven games against Atlanta this season. In 15 career games against the Thrashers, Ovechkin has 12 goals and 14 assists.

At Glendale, Arizona, Mikael Tellqvist made 24 saves for his second shutout of the season and added an assist to lead Phoenix past Philadelphia.
Niko Kapanen scored his first goal and set up another. Owen Nolan, Mathias Tjarnqvist and Daniel Carcillo also scored for the Coyotes, who won for the third time in 15 games. Phoenix has lost 19 of 28.
Martin Biron took a puck to the throat seven minutes into the game but remained in, finishing with 20 saves in his sixth straight start for the Flyers. Philadelphia is 3-1-2 with Biron, acquired from Buffalo at the trade deadline.

At Los Angeles, Noah Clarke became the first native Southern Californian to score for Los Angeles and Mathieu Garon recorded his first victory in more than two months, sending Edmonton to its eighth straight loss.
Michael Cammalleri had two goals, and Rob Blake had a power-play tally and two assists to help Garon win for the first time in seven starts.
Alexander Frolov also scored and Lubomir Visnovsky had three assists for Los Angeles, who snapped a five-game losing streak.
Garon made 26 saves.
Edmonton's skid is three games shy of the franchise record, set during the 1993-94 season.

At Calgary, Alberta, Alex Tanguay and Jarome Iginla scored in the shootout as Calgary beat St. Louis.
After the team's exchanged misses, Tanguay's shot over Jason Bacashihua's glove gave Calgary the edge.
Miikka Kiprusoff denied Doug Weight on a deke, giving Iginla the opportunity to clinch it. He whipped a shot into the corner over Bacashihua's blocker.
Kristian Huselius had a goal and three assists for Calgary. David Moss, Daymond Langkow, and Dion Phaneuf also scored for the eighth-place Flames, who pulled within one point of Minnesota, Dallas and San Jose in the race for the Western Conference playoffs.
Lee Stempniak scored twice, and Christian Backman and Peter Cajanek added further goals for St. Louis.
Aaliyah Edwards on Monday pulled off the stunner of the opening round of the Unrivaled one-on-one tournament, beating top-seeded Breanna Stewart 12-0. The tournament to be played over three days featured 23 of the WNBA’s 36 players. A few had other commitments and a couple others were out with injuries. Stewart got the ball first against Edwards and missed a contested layup. Edwards then hit a three-pointer from the corner and a jumper from the elbow to go up 5-0. SPEEDSKATER: Her bronze medal ended Taiwan’s run at the Asian Winter Games without a medal since the nation first participated in the second iteration in 1990 Speedskater Chen Ying-chu yesterday made history as the first athlete representing Taiwan to secure a medal at the Asian Winter Games. Competing at the HIC Speedskating Oval in Harbin, China, Chen clocked 10.510 seconds in the women’s 100m event, finishing third behind South Koreans Lee Na-hyum and Kim Min-sun, who posted times of 10.501 and 10.505 seconds respectively.
