Chris Walker of Britain won the first race in the ninth round of the World Superbikes on Sunday.
Walker timed 44 minutes, 23.501 seconds, for his maiden victory. Starting 13th at the rain-hit Assen circuit, Walker pulled away in lap 15 and led to the end.
"The bike was as good as you can get in those conditions. I was a bit lucky that the guys at the front made so many mistakes," said Walker, who was 14th in the second race.
Series leader Troy Bayliss crashed out halfway through the first race. Noriyuki Haga took the lead before the Yamaha rider also fell off two laps later. Bayliss won the second race in 37:29.307 to consolidate his position atop the championship standings. Bayliss leads the standings with 332 points. Britain's James Toseland moved to second with 232 points, with Haga third on 230.
