Finland's Hannu Manninen recovered from a poor jump yesterday to win a Nordic combined World Cup event and extend his lead in the overall standings.
After finishing in 12th place with a jump of 117.5m on the K-120 hill, Manninen clocked a time of 17 minutes, 26.6 seconds in the 7.5km cross country race for a winning time of 18:50.6.
Norway's Petter Tande was second, 6.5 seconds back of Manninen while Austria's Christoph Bieler, who had the best jump of 133m, was third after finishing 10.4 seconds off the pace.
The win for Manninen was his fourth in the last five World Cup events and gave him 970 points in the overall standings. He also won Sunday's event in Sapporo.
Germany's Ronny Ackermann, who is second in the overall standings with 795 points, did not take part in yesterday's competition. Finland's Samppa Lajunen, who won Friday's event at Nayoro and is third in the standings with 699 points, finished in eighth place, 41.4 seconds back while American Todd Lodwick was 10th.
