"I'm supposed to be one of the guys who produces so I need to fire the puck. I've seen that myself," said Sundin, who has 106 goals on the power play, including a team-leading 10 this season.
Carolina's Jan Hlavac scored for the first time in 18 games less than two minutes after Sundin's second goal. But the Hurricanes failed to beat Ed Belfour over the final 16 minutes as the goalie picked up his 22nd win this season and the 386th of his career.
Mogilny helped seal it with his 22nd goal with 3:15 left.
Ron Francis added a short-handed goal for Carolina with 1:22 remaining to make things interesting over the final minute.

The tri-nation Twenty20 international series featuring hosts Pakistan, as well as Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, is to be played entirely in Rawalpindi from Tuesday next week, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said yesterday, after this week’s suicide bombing in the capital, Islamabad. The change came after at least eight Sri Lankan players asked to leave over security fears following Tuesday’s bombing that killed 12 people and wounded 27. France’s Kevin Aymoz snatched the men’s title at Skate America on Saturday, winning his first grand prix title with a battling free skate, while short program leader Kazuki Tomono faltered.
