Over 100 people and schools were given awards by the Environmental Protection Admin-istration (EPA) yesterday for their contributions to environmental education.

In 1990, the EPA began giving awards to students and faculty in elementary schools for making exemplary contributions in the field of environmental education.
EPA officials, however, say surveys indicate that students at higher levels lag behind on the topic.

Wu said that the two universities have adopted energy-efficient facilities and have promoted garbage reduction and recycling on and off campus. They also promote the making and use of compost and student participation in community environmental activities.
Wu also said that the EPA specifically seeks to encourage people who dedicate themselves to promoting recycling.
