Chiu Chia-wei (邱加惟), a leading suspect in investigations surrounding the recent murder of his girlfriend, Liu Yueh-o (劉月娥) was found dead in Tamsui yesterday.
Three days ago, Liu's body was found in the trunk of a car parked in front of a police station in Chiayi county.
Chiu was found hanging from a tree outside an army base in Tamsui yesterday.
It is suspected that he had hanged himself over 12 hours before he was found. He was identified by an identification card in his pocket. No suicide note was found at the scene.
According to the police, Chiu went to his mother's house and told her about Liu's murder, saying he would confess the next day. He then disappeared.
Chiu is reported as having told police in a phone call that he killed Liu after they had a fight at the motel they were staying in.
