High school senior at National Nei-pu Senior Agricultural-Industrial Vocational High School, Pan Hung-ming is a member of the school boxing team and was courageous enough to overcome his personal difficulties and make progress to receive the Presidential Education Award this year. Pan has already been admitted to National Taiwan University of Sport’s Department of Martial Arts and will continue to bring glory to Taiwan in the boxing ring. The school principal Chen Yung-li and coach Fu Chih-chun also feel proud of him.
Pan is a member of the Paiwan Aboriginal Tribe and comes from a single-parent, low-income household. Pan’s father works as an ironworker and relies on a meager income to support his family’s livelihood. Although his family is poor, by virtue of active athleticism and the determination not to allow his spirits to be dragged down, his talent begins to shine once he is in the boxing ring. Over the past two years, Pan has already received the national championship three times, been chosen numerous times to represent the Taiwanese team, including at the 2014 world youth and Asian youth competitions and is currently a well-trained young domestic boxer.
Pan stated that he started boxing in junior high school because he did not want to go to class and did not want to be bullied. After joining the boxing team he slowly built up an interest. On obtaining a national championship in junior high school, Pan gained a lot of confidence and deepened his love for the sport.

He also said, he used to behave inappropriately, but after receiving guidance from his enlightened coach Lin Yuan, he gradually became more disciplined. Coach Lin taught Pan, “a person learning martial arts must know how to respect their teachers, but more importantly, they should have martial value.” Pan memorized this teaching by heart.
After entering high school, the competitions Pan entered changed from lightweight to middleweight, which means stronger opponents and more difficult matches. However, being a lover of challenges, after his daily training is over, Pan utilizes his time in the evening, at night and even on days off to train himself. He hopes to become a world-class athlete and a gold or silver medalist at international competitions like the Olympics and the Asian games, bringing glory to his country.

Laptop chipmakers such as Intel and AMD should be worried about their new rival Nvidia, experts say, after the US hardware titan announced on June 1 a push into the personal computer market. But despite Nvidia boss Jensen Huang’s assertion that homes will soon contain AI supercomputers, the race is still on to develop an ubiquitous, one-size-fits-all intelligent device. Huang vowed to “reinvent the PC” with Nvidia’s powerful chip for Windows machines, calling it “as big of a deal as the reinvention of the phone into what we now know as the smartphone.” Su Lian-jye, a chief analyst at Omdia,
India has launched one of the world’s largest social policy experiments by transferring cash directly to housewives in recognition of their unpaid domestic labor. Across 12 states, an estimated 118 million adult women regularly receive 1,000 to 2,500 rupees (NT$348 to NT$871), equal to about 5% to 12% of household income. Surveys show Indian women devote nearly five hours per day to household tasks — over 7.6 times men’s contribution. This imbalance is a major factor in India’s low female labor force participation. Though modest in amount, the transfers symbolically acknowledge the hidden labor supporting families and society.
