Four Taipei residents, including Yeh Yu-lin, who were eager to have children, went to Chaotian Temple last year to ask Chusheng Niangniang, the Goddess of Childbirth, for children, and also made the trip south to Beigang Township to take part in the Matsu pilgrimage. After returning home, the four of them did, indeed, announce good news, one after the other, and on Saturday went back to Chaotian Temple to make votive offerings.
Yeh and the others placed foods such as oily rice, sesame chicken and red eggs onto the altar table in Chaotian Temple’s Chusheng Niangniang Hall, and shared their good news with the goddess. Yeh said that although she had two lovable daughters after she got married, she and her husband really wanted a boy, and had to wait 14 years before their wish was granted. She recently completed her post-nativity month-long recuperation, and so went to Beigang to make the votive offerings.
